Chiropractic Treatment For Carpal Tunnel, Hand Numbness

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition that causes weakness, tingling, numbness or pain in the hand. Commonly, it is caused when the tunnel of the wrist bones and ligaments is compressed at the wrist. Often times, the hand and arm pain diagnosed as CTS is actually caused by irritated nerves in the neck or elbow. If this is the case, we can help!

The Tunnel

The carpal tunnel is a band of ligaments and small bones in your wrist. Painful symptoms can result when nerves are compressed by a collapse of this nerve “tunnel.”

The Spine

Many are surprised to learn that the cause of their wrist problem may be due to changes to one or more joints of the neck, shoulder, elbow or wrist. Subluxations in the upper spine may compromise the workings of any structure between it and the tip of your littlest finger. This is often called the double crush syndrome if the nerve is irritated at both the spine level and the wrist. We at Progressive Chiropractic find that many times the cause of the numbness is only coming from the upper spine. In most cases we can help. An evaluation is needed to confirm if there is an irritation (Subluxation) in the upper spine.
